Pedagogical review lectures on a level understandable for graduate students in humanities and social sciences will review recent progress made in applying quantitative approaches to study relations between characters appearing in different mythological narratives, epics and sagas, to understand complex behaviour of biological and social systems.

The diploma Doctor Honoris Causa of the Institute for Condensed Matter Physics will be presented to Christian von Ferber (Coventry, UK) on Wednesday, 03.04.2013 during a solemn ceremony that will take place in the ICMP Conference hall (1 Svientsitskii Str.) at 3:30 p.m.

Протягом 17-18 січня 2013 року в Інституті фізики конденсованих систем НАН України (конференц-зал, вул. Свєнціцького, 1) відбуватимуться традиційні щорічні Йорданські читання. На Йорданських читаннях – 2013 будуть представлені доповіді працівників Інституту за найважливішими науковими результатами, одержаними у 2012 році.

В рамках Читань відбудеться окрема наукова сесія, присвячена 70-літтю професора Р.Р.Левицького, відомого дослідника у галузі теорії сегнетоелектриків та модельних спінових систем.

On June 5-7, 2013 XIII-th Workshop and Awards for young researchers in the field of statistical physics and condensed matter theory will be held at the Institute for Condensed Matter Physics.
The 2013 Workshop is dedicated to the 140th anniversary of the Shevchenko Scientific Society in Lviv. Its program will include invited lectures of top experts and short communications of young researchers.
The Awards is announced for students and young researchers (not older than 35 years of age) in the field of statistical physics and condensed matter theory.
