Ponderomotive forces in the stable complexes of charged particles and the problems of electromagnetic separation
Forces acting on the electrically neutral stable complex of charged particles in nonhomogeneous electromagnetic field are derived by direct averaging nonrelativistic equations of motion of the center of mass of the complex over the nonobservable motions of the constituent particles. It is shown, if only electric or magnetic field is present, the obtained equations of motion are derivable from the Lagrangian function. The application of the equation of motion with constructed forces to the problems of electromagnetic separation is discussed.
