Chemical potential of metallic slab within the jellium model taking into account the Coulomb interaction between electrons is calculated. Surface potential is modeled by the infinite rectangular potential well. The behavior of the chemical potential as a function of film thickness is studied, the quantum-size effect for this quantity is discovered. It is shown that taking into account the Coulomb interaction leads to a significant decrease in chemical potential and increase of the quantum-size effect.
