The two-body Dirac equation with general local potential is reduced to the pair of ordinary second-order differential equations for radial components of a the wave function. The class of special potentials is found, for which the equation possesses exact solutions. For other cases the pseudo-perturbative $1/j$-expansion method is proposed. Few models of light mesons are constructed, exact and approximate energy spectra are calculated. They are compared with experimental data.
