We are pleased to announce that the Student Conference on Computer Simulation in Science and Engineering – 2025 will take place on 6-7 November 2025.
The event is jointly organized by the Interdisciplinary Center for Computer Simulations (ICCS) of the Yukhnovskii Institute for Condensed Matter Physics of the NAS of Ukraine and the Ukrainian Catholic University (UCU).
The conference has an interdisciplinary focus and is dedicated to the computer simulation of the physical world in all its diversity, covering various fields of science and technology, including physics, mathematics, chemistry, biology, engineering, information technology, linguistics, and more.
VI International Conference «Statistical Physics: Theory and Computer Simulations»
Between 27 and 29 August 2025, the 6th International Conference “Statistical Physics: Theory and Computer Simulations” was held in Lviv. The event was organised by the Yukhnovskii Institute for Condensed Matter Physics of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, jointly with the Lviv Polytechnic National University and Ivan Franko National University of Lviv, with the support of the Lviv City Council.
This conference continued the tradition of regular international meetings on statistical physics in Ukraine, which originated in the 1970s and was revived under the title “Statistical Physics” (Lviv, 2005; Kharkiv, 2006; Lviv, 2009; Lviv, 2012; and Lviv, 2019).
This year’s event held special significance, as it was dedicated to the 100th anniversary of Academician Ihor Yukhnovskii, an outstanding Ukrainian physicist, founder of the Lviv School of Statistical Physics and the Institute for Condensed Matter Physics of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, which since July 2025 has borne his name.

In memory of professor Stefan Sokołowski

It is with deep sadness that we inform you that on June 24, 2024, at the seventy fourth year of his life, Stefan Sokołowski – a professor at Maria Curie-Skłodowska University in Lublin, Poland, an honorary doctor of our institute, extraordinary scientist in the area of microscopic theory and computer simulations of fluids and solutions, – passed away. His death is a great loss to all of us and the entire scientific community. We express our deepest condolences to the family of Stefan Sokolowski, colleagues and friends. Stefan will remain in our memory as an outstanding scientist, a kind and bright person. May he rest in peace.
