A brief history of the Ukrainian University in Lviv, which was acting in 1921–1925 as an underground institution, for educational demands of Ukrainians deprived of the opportunity to get legally a high education in Polish State after the Polish-Ukrainian War of 1918–1919, is presented. The foundation, development and decay of the university, as well as the Ukrainian High Polytechnic School, which arose alongside, is considered. Issues related to the activities of the underground university: participation of various organizations in its development, organization of the educational process, teaching staff and financial support are covered as well.
