We review the recent theoretical approaches to the study of irradiation damage production. In particular, the main mechanisms of damage production and damage accumulation are considered. The basic concepts and models of irradiation damage production (standard rate theory model, dispersed barrier hardening model, production bias model, etc.) are analyzed.
