Lviv is the major city and cultural centre (in fact an un-official capital) of Western Ukraine. It is located in the pre-Carpathian region just 70 km from the Ukrainian-Polish border. Today with about 730,000 inhabitants, Lviv offers a picturesque historic centre and fine art collections.
