Title:
Editorial
Dear colleagues and readers of our journal,
Our journal has just turned 20 and we should like to thank all of you — our contributors,
readers and colleagues in science for your invaluable help during this period. Started as a
small scale regional scientific edition, we are happy to report essential growth of our journal
in many aspects. The network of our contributors extended to representatives of 60 countries with
the fraction of foreign authors increased from 25% in 1993–1997 to 65% in 2008–2013 years. Now,
already for some years, our journal is covered in Thomson ISI Master journal list, is assigned the
ISI impact factor and has become a member of CrossRef association of publishers. We try to balance
between two types of issues, regular ones and special issues that are focused on current trends in condensed matter physics.
These special issues often gather contributions centered around a scientific personality or collect the topics discussed
at scientific meetings and symposiums, thus promoting science in a local community. We hope to serve in this way for the
years to come and hope to continue our fruitful collaboration with all of you.
The previous year has seen some changes in the organisation of our editorial work,
namely, we completely switched to the online Open Journal System, which enables one to
simplify the communication routine and trace all the stages of a publication. We hope this
change is also seen as a welcome move by our authors and referees. The ISI impact factor of our
journal for 2012 is 0.757. We also keep the statistics for the most downloaded papers and feel
that the authors of these will have a pleasure to know about that. Hence, here are the five publications downloaded the most in 2013:
- T. Imai, Condens. Matter Phys., 2007, Vol. 10, No. 3, 343-362, DOI:10.5488/CMP.10.3.343 (2040 downloads);
- J.-P. Badiali, Condens. Matter Phys., 2005, Vol. 8, No. 4, 655-664, DOI:10.5488/CMP.8.4.655 (1428 downloads);
- N.S. Gonchar, Condens. Matter Phys., 2000, Vol. 3, No. 3, 461-496, DOI:10.5488/CMP.3.3.461 (1398 downloads);
- Wm.G. Hoover, C.G. Hoover, Condens. Matter Phys., 2005, Vol. 8, No. 2, 247-260, DOI:10.5488/CMP.8.2.247 (1208 downloads);
- H. Cabrera, A. Marcano, Y. Castellanos, Condens. Matter Phys., 2006, Vol. 9, No. 2, 385-389, DOI:10.5488/CMP.9.2.385 (1174 downloads).
More details for the publishing years 2004–2013 are to be found in the Cumulative authors index
of Condensed Matter Physics journal which is due to publication as a separate issue in 2014.
Besides that, our plan for the year 2014 is to publish two regular issues and a special issue
on "Self-organisation and collective behaviour in complex systems" edited by: Yu.Holovatch, W.Janke, S.Thurner.
As usual, we cordially invite you, our dear colleagues and friends, to submit your scientific papers in our journal
in the form of regular or review articles or brief communications. We wish you a fruitful year 2014.
